Award in the Role of the Carer for the Elderly
Course Duration: 15 hours - 3 hours
This module will teach our students the true meaning of being a carer. Elderly persons have specific needs that lead the carer to take different roles according to the setting and the situation, i.e. a carer working in a long-term facility serves a different purpose than one working at an individual’s private home.
Overall Competences
During this module, our students will be able to:

Understand and critically discuss care standards.

Make suggestions to review and improve the services provided.

Enable older people to make choices relating to their care via effective interpersonal communication.

Be organised when it comes to managing chronic conditions and co-morbidities.

Collaborate and liaise with other team members across the secondary/primary care interface.

Promote the patients’ sense of identity and personal dignity.

Outline solidarity strategies concerning colleagues, patients and their relatives.
