This MQF level 5 course is ideal for all those individuals who would like to work in Malta and Europe's health care sector. The qualification fuses theoretical concepts and practical experiences, providing a 360-degree real-life experience for our students and enabling them to put the skills that they learn during the course into practice. 


Overall Competences


Upon course completion, participants will be able to:

  1. Give medical advice and promote good health practices.

  2. Recognise and fix situations that are detrimental to the patient's health and general well-being.

  3. Assess the patient's needs.

  4. Implement a person-centred approach when working at a hospital, clinic or any other healthcare setting.

  5. Assist patients in achieving maximum independence.

  6. Devise a person-centred nursing care plan based on a sense of co-operation between the patient and medical team.

  7. Act professionally and ethically in all instances.

  8. Effectively implement the nursing plan, collaborating with other medical professionals when doing so.

  9. Evaluate and review the outcomes of the nursing care plan and make changes when and where necessary.

  10. Organise the delivery of care by coordinating and delegating tasks to the appropriate professionals.

  11. Educate new nursing students.

  12. Communicate with patients and their loved ones in a professional, transparent and caring manner.

Entry Requirements: The candidate must have: 1. A qualification in Nursing accredited by NCHFE at MQF Level 4 (Foreign or Maltese) and/or Registration as a Second Level Nurse with the Council for Midwives and Nurses of Malta or 1 A Level in Biology and 2 Intermediates (or Foreign Equivalent) and 2. Is proficient in English (if foreign students IELTS with marking over 6.5) preferably at Matsec Ordinary level or equivalent (candidates might be asked or requested to sit for a Maltese and English or either proficiency test at this level if the need arises) and 3. Have moderate digital competencies, regular access to a computer, tablet, or other suitable mobile device, and a reliable internet connection. During the course, candidates must be working in a hospital, clinic or in the health care sector and be willing to carry out a number of hours working in a hospital, clinic or elderly care homes or residences in order to gain work experience in this area.

The qualification fuses theoretical concepts and practical experiences, providing a 360-degree real-life experience for our students and enabling them to put the skills that they learn during the course into practice. Type of Assessment: Lectures, Interactive, Blended and Practical Length: Full-time: 24 months; Part-Time: 9 months N.B. The FT course is only intended for foreigners who are third country nationals not working in Malta due to the 4,600 practical hours that they need to carry out. The PT course shall be 9 months long plus the extra hours of practice (4,300 hours).
