This module delves into human resources management theories. Human resource theories explain how management behaviours and structure influence employee behaviour. Small business owners can benefit from a basic understanding of such approaches to boost employee productivity and innovation. As a result, the business experiences a reduction in employee turnover.

Apply this knowledge when it comes to employee recruitment, training, development and retention.
Understand the importance of employer-employee relations in a union and non-union context.
Understand how the workplace can benefit from good health and safety practices.
Identify the best-emerging technologies that support HR work.
Analyse communication strategies.
Incorporate the human resources strategy within the overall business plan.
Conduct research and produce reports relating to how the HR practices within a particular company can be improved.
