A supervisor serves as a link between the subordinates and the upper management. Such a role involves coaching new employees, coming up with new, creative ideas that save money, increasing productivity, establishing company credibility and earning the subordinates' respect.
A supervisor should:
Assign work: He/She designates duties to employees, explaining beforehand how these should be carried out.
Evaluate the employee's performance: He/she pays attention to the employees when they are working and makes sure that everything is running smoothly.
Reward high performance: This incentivises employees to work harder.
