Candidates will have the opportunity to learn all about child development, the challenges children with special needs face, and various pedagogical strategies. This course will also enable candidates to broaden and deepen their knowledge of topics concerning inclusive education. This knowledge will help our students deal with the day to day challenges they would encounter as professional LSEs.

 

Overall Competences

During this course, our students will be able to:

  1. Assess issues related to child development and education, with particular emphasis on diverse needs.

  2. Learn all about the different types of special needs that exist, and their effect on learning.

  3. Assess the child’s numeracy and literacy, according to the National Curriculum (NMC).

  4. Develop the skills to implement the values of inclusion, diversity and equity.

  5. Become more professional in their work as Learning Support Educators.

  6. Assess the health and safety of children with diverse needs.

  7. Explore the effect of multiculturism in the classroom, the concept of gifted children and different pedagogical strategies and resources.

  8. Conduct research about inclusive education and children with diverse needs.

  9. Use AAC devices with the children in their care.

Course Description: Candidates will have the opportunity to learn all about child development, the challenges children with special needs face, and various pedagogical strategies. This course will also enable candidates to broaden and deepen their knowledge of topics concerning inclusive education.
