Course Overview

Intro

Managing teams of employees can be stressful and overwhelming. Thus, being an effective leader goes hand-in-hand with being an effective manager to ensure that things are running smoothly.

This MQF Level 5 module (4 ECTS) helps our students to develop personal leadership skills that complement their managerial skills, for the benefit of the team and the organisation at large.

Overall competences

During this module, our students will:

• Understand their ability to fulfil critical leadership responsibilities.
• Become more aware of their leadership style.
• Become more confident in integrating their leadership and managerial skills to achieve the desired impact and outcomes.
• Understand and practise the critical skills of setting expectations, delegating, setting the agenda, reviewing employee achievements and steering future performance.
• Learn how to train employees to reach their full potential.
• Learn how to tackle underperformance.
• Practice essential communication skills, such as assertiveness, to achieve desired outcomes.
• Evaluate and improve their situation leadership skill.
• Understand the actions involved when leading a team through change.
• Use the theories of emotional intelligence to review how performance is affected by emotions.
• Review their own ability to set an agenda and communicate this to others.
• Analyse their own ability to motivate, delegate and empower others.
• Produce a personal development plan to improve their ability to lead.
