Course Overview

Intro

This MQF Level 7 Award (4 ECTS) strengthens learners’ ability to coach and mentor staff effectively within nursing and healthcare settings. The module explores key theories of self‑actualisation and applies them to real workplace scenarios, helping participants understand how personal growth influences professional performance.

Learners examine the psychological dimension of nursing, including the emotional needs of nurses, carers, patients, and their families. Emphasis is placed on supportive communication, collaborative care, and evidence‑based mentoring practices that contribute to improved wellbeing and better clinical outcomes.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Advise on health behaviours, health habits, and primary prevention with regards to nutrition, physical exercise and other attitudes promoting well-being
  2. Be responsible for the promotion of health and well-being and describe the influencing factors with special reference to patient needs within the Maltese context
  3. Guide others on how nutrition and other health activities affect nursing practice and how this is particular to the Maltese context
  4. Advise on the relationship of individual difference variables, social factors, emotional factors, cognitive factors, perceived symptoms, and factors related to access to medical care to health behaviours.
  5. Guide others on the prevention of health-habit factors from undermining health practices especially with regards to patient needs and within the healthcare system.
  6. Advise on the findings of research investigating the success of health promotion and primary prevention efforts across the healthcare system within the local situation.
  7. Monitor the effectiveness of attitudinal approaches and differentiate between the different approaches.
  8. Guide others on self-efficacy and explain the relationship between self-efficacy and health behaviors.
  9. Lead others on the importance of the role of the nurse in promoting healthy attitudes and how these are implemented within the various healthcare  environments
  10. Advise on health policies with regards to Health and Well-being such as healthy eating, etc.

Mode of Delivery

The Diploma in Customer Care will be delivered through blended learning, with 50% of contact hours delivered online and the other 50% of contact hours delivered face-to-face.
