Course Overview

Intro

Many a time, children with learning difficulties are stigmatised and associated with failure. This connotation, in turn, significantly lowers their self-esteem. On the other hand, the production of art and the development of artistic skills leads this group of children to find meaning and a sense of competence and mastery.

The EU’s emphasis on creative expression as a core competence in education and the increasing importance of creativity in business means that students should now be encouraged to develop their artistic skills.

Therefore, during this MQF Level 6 module (3 ECTS), learners are exposed to a variety of creative media, so that, in turn, they can develop alternative teaching strategies that recognise each student’s capabilities.

Topics

  • A focus on artists with special needs
  • Play, fun and the arts as a means towards learning and inclusion
  • Different artistic media
  • Practical, creative activities and strategies that can be used to motivate students with special needs
  • Creative, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial skills
  • Using creative activities to teach the core subjects
