Course Overview

Intro

Rapid changes have taken place over the last 20 years. These include market liberalisation, increase in activities and products, IT developments and geographical expansion.

These have increased opportunities for company growth. At the same time, company risks and complexity have increased, basic procedures have multiplied and the operation and protection of a company’s assets need to be safeguarded. 

As a result, Internal Auditing has become an essential component of a company’s operation. 

This MQF Level 7 Award (10 ECTS) will equip students with a basic understanding of the theories, principles and frameworks upon which modern auditing and assurance are based. 

The Award in Financial Internal Auditing explores audit and assurance risk assessment procedures as well as audit approaches and techniques. 

Students also become familiar with the International Professional Practices Framework, the Code of Ethics and the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, under which internal auditing operates.

During this module, our students will:

• Learn about auditing concepts, principles and objectives, and different types of auditing. 
• Learn and instruct trainees about the basic analytical procedures on a set of financial statements, including when to use sampling and non-sampling. 
• Prepare an audit plan by determining materiality, audit risk, and audit strategy, and assume responsibility for it.
• Make judgements and recommend improvements on the various elements of internal controls 
• Develop tests of controls and tests of balances and audit procedures.
• Learn about the nature of other assurance and compilation engagements and identify the appropriate report for these engagements.
• Act professionally in view of the legal obligations faced by auditors under various types of law
