Course Overview

Intro

This MQF Level 5 module (4 ECTS) delves into human resources management theories.  Human resource theories explain how management behaviours and structure influence employee behaviour. Small business owners can benefit from a basic understanding of such approaches to boost employee productivity and innovation. As a result, the business experiences a reduction in employee turnover.

Overall competences

During this module, our students will be able to:

• Understand the main theories of HR Management.
• Apply this knowledge when it comes to employee recruitment, training, development and retention.
• Understand the importance of employer-employee relations in a union and non-union context.
• Understand how the workplace can benefit from good health and safety practices.
• Identify the best-emerging technologies that support HR work.
• Analyse communication strategies.
• Incorporate the human resources strategy within the overall business plan.
• Conduct research and produce reports relating to how the HR practices within a particular company can be improved.
