Intro

In the labour market, a qualification in this subject is a necessity and is often sought out when employers are seeking their ideal candidate. The lack of a qualification in this core subject is seen as a major disadvantage. Obtaining a certificate in this subject shows that you’re motivated to learn, and dedicated to reaching your highest potential.

Mathematics is frequently used in everyday life. In most sectors, the need for it is more implicit, unless the job specifically requires a strong mathematical competency.

The course outlines the fundamental skills that are often required in Malta’s labour market. It also enables the student to apply for other courses in our Education, Business & Management and Health and Social Care departments. Therefore, there are plenty of post-course opportunities that will, undoubtedly, give you access to better job opportunities.

Overall Competences

Upon completion, the individual will obtain:

1. Knowledge of what is expected from them at work and at home in Mathematics by the National Maltese Curriculum.
2. Basic Mathematics knowledge and skills in order to be able to efficiently function in everyday life at work, at home and elsewhere.

Mode of Delivery

The Award in Mathematics (Proficiency Level) will be delivered through blended learning, with 50% of contact hours delivered online and the other 50% of contact hours delivered face-to-face.
