Course Overview

Intro
| The aim of the programme is to bring awareness on the prevention and management of Aggressive behaviour encountered by various professionals on their place of work as an automatic result of their contact with clients, being the elderly, adults, teens and/or children. This award brings awareness to these professionals coming from various sectors, such as health, social, education, disciplined forces, entertainment, and others, whereby they encounter aggressive and violent behaviour as part of their work. This award will equip the participants with the necessary tools to deal with these difficult situations in an appropriate manner whereby they learn while to protect themselves or else those who are involved, control the aggressor in a safe manner. This can be done with proper understanding of the triggers and the appropriate techniques to control and de-escalate such unwanted and uncontrolled behaviour. |
Learning Outcomes
The learner will be able to:
- Increase awareness in relation to behavioural signs of an escalation, as early as possible – recognition of the early warning signs of Violence and Aggression
- Participants identify their own style of coping in situations where they have to face an escalating individuals / situations.
- Equip themselves with the necessary interventions required in relation to the different level of the escalative behaviour
Mode of Delivery
The Award in Prevention and Management of Violent and Aggressive Behaviour will be delivered through physical, face‑to‑face learning, with all contact hours held on campus.
Entry requirements
The entry requirements shall be:
- persons who are qualified within Health, Social and Educational settings who hold a qualification either equivalent to Level 4 or higher such as teachers, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, carers and any other professionals; OR
- persons who have a lesser qualification than MQF Level 4 or equivalent, however who have at least a certification to work in Security Services, Face-to-Face customer, Discipline forces and other similar roles and have a least 6 months of experience in the role and have undergone official training in order to be employed in such a role.
