Course Overview

Intro

While commonalities exist between large businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), SMEs have particular needs.

This MQF Level 6 module (4 ECTS) explores what these needs are, and the challenges SMEs have to face. Furthermore, it outlines the steps needed to build a successful SME. 

Overall competences

During this module, our students will:

• Pinpoint the main differences between SMEs and larger businesses.
• Identify the best SME accounting and marketing practices.
• Understand the global, regional and local legal and social contexts that foster or hinder the growth of SMEs.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the ethical obligations and responsibilities of SMEs.
• Identify business tools, employee-employer relations and leadership concepts that promote the success of SMEs.
• Analyse and differentiate between different start-up models.
