Course Overview

Intro

Phlebotomy is  a topic that interests people from all background and life experiences  it can provide post-basic information to promote a better understanding of phlebotomy care, as well as cover ethical and psychological issues, anatomy and physiology and other relevant topics. This subject matter can also lay the foundation for individuals wanting to pursue higher levels of healthcare studies.

Overall Competences

The course is intended to give learners a more indepth knowledge related to Phlebotomy. This qualification will provide the necessary theoretical knowledge, practical skills and competencies for learners to be able to practice safely and competently. It will also be a means of upgrading practitioners up to a Bachelor’s level degree.

Upon completion of the course, learners shall be able to:

1. Explain the principles and fundamentals of phlebotomy care and practice;
2. Relate pertinent considerations for safe practice;
3. Demonstrate proficiency and professionalism in their practice;
4. Illustrate knowledge of relevant anatomy and physiology related to blood-taking;
5. Exhibit proficient communication skills with colleagues, clients and managers;
6. Express familiarity with the chemical processes going on within blood taking and testing in the laboratory;
7. Show comprehension of the needed equipment required to carry out their job.
