Award in Research Methods for Business and Management

Research Methods for Business and Management

Intro

Evidence should inform and support the implementation of management and leadership approaches within an organisation. Research has become integral in any sector, including in Business and Management.

This MQF Level 7 module (4 ECTS) primarily focuses on exploring research methods and how research directly impacts the implementation phase. During this award course, students will explore quantitative, qualitative and mixed research designs. Moreover, they will learn how to conduct research, review literature, examine research paradigms and designs, collect data, and analyse it.

This module would also serve as partial preparation for the research that needs to be conducted for the final research project. Therefore, it will help students understand the different methodologies they can use for research purposes.

Overall competences

Upon module completion, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of quantitative, qualitative and mixed research design, their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Decide on the research design and research tools/techniques that should be used to address their proposed research project’s specific research questions.
  • Integrate and analyse key research findings, leading to a better understanding of the external and internal influences that directly impact an organisation’s performance.
