Award in English (Proficiency Level)

Certificate in English Proficiency

In the labour market, English proficiency is a necessity and is often sought out by employers. The lack of a proficiency certificate or equivalent is seen as a disadvantage, and with the competitive work environment we live in today, job seekers need to stay ahead of the curve.

English is one of Malta’s official languages and is widely used as the prime language of communication across all countries of the European Union. Therefore basic communication, comprehension, writing and reading skills in the language are necessary to navigate the many facets of life in Malta and the EU.

In the ever-changing multicultural landscape of the country, utilising Maltese without being fluent in English is becoming even more challenging. Proficiency in basic English skills is an asset to prospective students in their future endeavours. Moreover, it’s also the cornerstone of integration in Maltese society, which is particularly important if you’re looking to call Malta “home”.

Overall Competences

Upon completion, the individual will obtain:

  1. Knowledge of what is expected from them at work and at home in English by the National Maltese Curriculum.
  2. Basic English knowledge and skills in order to be able to efficiently function in everyday life at work, at home and elsewhere.

Mode of Delivery

The Award in English (Proficiency Level) will be delivered through blended learning, with 50% of contact hours delivered online and the other 50% of contact hours delivered face-to-face.
