Supporting Learners with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)

Course Duration:  12 hours - 3 hours

‘Learning Disorder’ is defined as a cognitive, neurobiological and/or language processing difficulty caused by atypical brain functioning. This module will equip our students with the necessary knowledge to assist children with SpLD. By understanding the student’s needs, the LSE, together with the teacher and other professionals, can create activities that engage the student and facilitate the learning process.

Overall competences

During this module, our students will:

  1. Identify the characteristics of children with SpLD.

  2. Learn about the causes and prevalence of such conditions.

  3. Assess the educational and behavioural levels of pupils with SpLD.

  4. Learn how to create a lesson plan for students with SpLD

  5. Recognise the need to collaborate with other professionals for the student’s benefit.

  6. Learn how to effectively communicate the student’s progress to his/her parents and other professionals.

  7. Understand the importance of the ‘Specific Learning Difficulties Unit’ and learn more about its services.
